This blog will take a closer look at the pioneering environmental park in Wasfi Al Tal Forest; an initiative in Jordan that we funded and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Ain Al Basha Municipality. The park was inaugurated by the Minister of Environment H.E. Dr. Muawieh Radaideh, on behalf of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, alongside our CEO Mr. Nadim Haddad.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ain Al Basha District Administrator Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rawahneh; Ministry of Agriculture Assistant Secretary-General Eng. Khaled Al-Qudah; Ain Al Basha Mayor Mr. Jamal Al-Faouri; Royal Department for Environment Protection representative Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al-Sawaeer; and several representatives from both official and grassroots organizations.

The ceremony included signing a four-party memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture, Markazia Toyota and Ain Al Basha Municipality that emphasized the role of all stakeholders involved in ensuring the park’s sustainability. Wasfi Al Tal Forest: A Beloved Spot for Recreation, with Major Support from Markazia Toyota

Wasfi Al Tal Forest is an important environmental asset in Jordan. As one of the largest, oldest and most cherished natural forests in the Kingdom, with a rich array of plants and animals, it serves as a peaceful retreat and a favorite spot for locals and visitors to enjoy all year round.

Nevertheless, the forest faces several shortages, such as a lack of public facilities, random picnicking and the risk of fires, which require significant efforts to manage and protect it. Recognizing this, we saw an opportunity to fulfill our responsibility to the Jordanian community supporting our work, while achieving our goal of enhancing the environment however we can. We organized volunteer campaigns to clean the forest with the help of our stellar employees and held tourism functions in the area featuring many environmental and recreational events, including popular off-roading activities, to attract adventure enthusiasts.

The Pioneering Environmental Park in Wasfi Al Tal Forest: A Safe and Beautiful Space for Hiking

To promote environmental sustainability and create a safe area for hiking and picnicking in Wasfi Al Tal Forest in Al Balqa, we signed an agreement with the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture and Ain Al Basha Municipality. This agreement aims to establish the pioneering environmental park in Wasfi Al Tal Forest, with the goal of enhancing the area’s tourism infrastructure to better serve park-goers, preserving the forest by reducing random picnicking and forest fires, protecting its natural beauty and raising environmental awareness. The park is spread over a 30-dunum area, encompassing green spaces, pathways, playgrounds for children, administration buildings, healthcare units, a cafeteria, parking lots and other facilities and services.
